teaching experience
Summary
Maddie has worked for 5 semesters as a teaching assistant, teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She has occupied the role of head graduate assistant, which allowed her to take an active role in developing teaching pedagogy for other graduate students as well as syllabus design and implementation. She led the transition at the College for International Studies at the University of Oklahoma to online learning during the nascent stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At both the undergraduate and graduate level, Maddie has had full grading duties, lectured and led discussion, met with students and monitored their progress, and assisted in research design for course-specific and department/program-specific requirements. She is passionate about mentoring students to be engaged citizens and members of an empathetic global community who bring strong critical thinking skills to the table. Her call to students is to a “higher order of thinking” that asks for deep engagement with material and a dedication to learning about the world and from the world.
